branch library gift policy

 

Thank you for considering the University Libraries as a “new home” for your books.

Due to staff and space constraints, the Libraries can only consider donations of special, rare or unique items, which may include items in the collections of retiring faculty members.

Please contact your liaison librarian before delivery of the items to the library. Your librarian is happy to do a preliminary evaluation of the items under consideration.

Donated items are not necessarily added to the collection. Here’s what happens to items not added to the collection:

• Items may be returned to the donor. The donor must clearly state this preference to the librarian, at the time of donation.
  
• Items may be donated to other libraries or to individuals.
  
• Items may be discarded.
